Review: Roskilde (2008), a Documentary film, Barok Film, Director Ulrik Wivel
The documentary film Roskilde has a few music scenes. The film dwells on the absolute extraordinary concerts (for instance The Streets, Franz Ferdinand, Mew, Sonic Youth) performed at the Roskilde Festival within the last decade. But should a documentary on the Roskilde Festival be about music? Festival research shows that not all guests buy their ticket in order to attend concerts. In many ways a festival is also viewed as an extended life style event where the music works as atmosphere smoothing the socialising and partying. (more…)

Hovefestivalen har sammen med Canal Street og Norwegian Grand Prix engasjert Agderforskning til å utvikle og gjennomføre en ringvirkningsundersøkelse på de tre festivalene i Arendal. Bakgrunnen for å foreta en slik undersøkelse er at festivalene har en fornemmelse at det er vesentlige ringvirkninger for lokalmiljøet under festivalen, men dette er som oftest basert på egne inntrykk og noen få statistiske opplysninger. Det er viktig å få et mer konkret og pålitelig bilde av den effekten festivalene har (eller ikke har) på lokalmiljøet

What is it like to live and work in Kristiansand as a young professional? Is it easy to integrate? Does this town meet the expectations? Would you like to stay here? Why? Why not?
We, Egle and Will, are two students from Warwick University (UK), who came to Kristiansand for six weeks in the beginning of May in order to look for answers to these questions. Trying to experience to the fullest what Kristiansand has to offer and reflect upon it has been part of our internship at Agderforskining.
This ethnographic research is a contribution to Agderforskning’s wider project Professionalization of the creative industries in Kristiansand. Companies here know very little about their high competence employees and what they do after work - in their free time. The research project is looking into how the region can develop, using the creative industries, into a place where you can feel at home even if you were not born here.
